M'A SUMMER KNITWEAR IS 100% RECYCLED COTTON YARN
Recycled cotton can be defined, in a simplified way, as transforming the leftovers of cotton fabrics that were not used in production into cotton fiber that can be reused in new textile products.
The recycling process consists in processing the cotton waste in machines that break the cotton fabric and yarn into smaller pieces before separating them into fibers.
By choosing a recycled cotton fabric, you reduce the effects of cotton growing on the environment and also prevent textile waste from being disposed of in landfills or incinerated.
BENEFITS OF RECYCLED COTTON
- By recycling waste cotton, it is possible to divert many products from landfills. According to the Textile Recycling Council, annual textile waste is estimated at 25 billion pounds.
- The amount of energy, water and dyes is reduced by using pre-consumer recycled cotton, as the cotton has already been dyed previously.
- Recycled cotton can find new life in many different low-grade products such as insulation, mop heads, rags, and stuffing.
- The CO2 and fossil fuel emission savings can be partially offset by using existing materials. However, the collection, processing, and shipping of cotton scraps or clothing can reduce or neutralize some of these savings.
